...to my blog. Here you'll find the latest news about me (YAY), recent photos, ramblings, projects, and hopefully some humor. If you're new here, please feel free to poke around, search my categories, and post any comments. If you are returning, welcome back, I hope I have something new to show you! Just in case you're wondering, who is Terra? What makes her tick? Okay, you're probably not wondering all that, but still I'd like to let you know that for me photography has led me to the best career ever. I feel so blessed to have been let into such intimate moments of peoples lives, to have the power to cause them to shed tears of joy, to have been hugged by so very many of them, it's beyond words. So although (of course) I love photography, what really drives me are the moments the camera records, and the drive to catch more than an image, but the texture of your skin, the way even the air felt that day. I hope, in the end, my images live up the reality. Please enjoy. T

Vivi + Mike = The Shooting Range!

Of course, they’re also married! It was a beautiful day, and even though the bay area has seemed confused, is it or is it not the summer?, it all fell together.

Viviana and Mike have a great family, and I just love how a part of their lives their families are. It’s not as if they’re just getting married, it’s as if they have been together for years. My favorite part was when the DJ asked everyone who was Colombian raise their hands. Up went Vivianas, and without any hesitation Mike raised his hand too.

Here is a small sample of their fabulous shooting range images! Thanks to my super awesome assistant Michelle who took these! She’s manned the Shooting Range for me at other events, but not a wedding before. I decided she was ready, what do you think?

Cassie + Mark = Married!

Driving up to Cassie and Mark’s wedding I stopped to take a photo of the winery’s sign, but before getting out of my car I turned and said to Michelle, “Oh my goodness, is this day nice or what?”

From Cassie’s beautiful bridesmaids, to Mark’s groomsman giving such a funny and endearing toast, it was more than the weather that was beautiful. It has been a while since I had time to fit in photos of just the bride, so I have to send up a thank you for Southern brides, they know how amazing these can be. And? They’re a tradition. So when Cassie brought this up with me, I just jumped all over it.

Afterwards Mark and his crew arrived and I couldn’t help but notice he was carrying around a rather large box… with a picture of a cowboy hat on it. For most of the day I imagined that it carried paperwork, seating cards or something along those lines. As you can see, it didn’t. It contained, you guessed it, a cowboy hat.

Mark had one more surprise for me though. Outside was his most prized possession (Cassie is an outrageous sidekick, and therefore doesn’t count), a shiny red Ferrari. This was of course one of the first ‘preview’ photos I sent them. According to Cassie it now hangs on their wall.

Mark? Cassie? The next time you are in town stop by, I will so miss you both.

Please please enjoy.

Valerie + Chantz = Married!

The day of Valerie and Chantz’s wedding was, simply, beautiful. The best weather, the bluest skies, the greenest vineyards, I walked outside and literally basked in the weather. What a wonderful day to celebrate a marriage. So many people traveled for this wedding, many coming from Seattle, and I don’t think you could have picked a more perfect venue to reflect the intimacy of the wedding that they had planned.

Valerie and her mom decorated the ceremony and reception with hand painted stars, and the wedding cake (one I had never seen before) was something Val had been dreaming of since childhood.

I knew from their engagement session what a fun, cute and laid back couple they were, but their wedding day just confirmed it. Standing outside taking their ring shots I looked up and thought, ‘oh my goodness! Where is the light going?’. It was fading a half hour before scheduled! Bad sun. So I hurried inside to grab them for their last romantic shots, and they are beautiful, enchanting, lovely.

I love her little, ‘I do’, on the bottom of her shoes. Chantz’s face when he picks her up? So cute! Of course, he did pretend to have a titanic moment. But don’t we all?

Enjoy!

Marvin + Vicki = Family Session!

A few years ago Vicki found me on Yelp and hired me to do her head shots. Let me tell you, her head shots are pretty fabulous. The great thing about her session is she has tons to choose from, and I see her cycle them on linked in. So when she called me to do a family session with her husband and two youngest daughters I was happy to oblige.

Vicki is such a nice person to be around, and so is her family. I enjoyed this session. Not just for the lovely images but because it was great to be outdoors in the sunshine and watch the girls playing together. Hope you enjoy the slideshow as well!
