...to my blog. Here you'll find the latest news about me (YAY), recent photos, ramblings, projects, and hopefully some humor. If you're new here, please feel free to poke around, search my categories, and post any comments. If you are returning, welcome back, I hope I have something new to show you! Just in case you're wondering, who is Terra? What makes her tick? Okay, you're probably not wondering all that, but still I'd like to let you know that for me photography has led me to the best career ever. I feel so blessed to have been let into such intimate moments of peoples lives, to have the power to cause them to shed tears of joy, to have been hugged by so very many of them, it's beyond words. So although (of course) I love photography, what really drives me are the moments the camera records, and the drive to catch more than an image, but the texture of your skin, the way even the air felt that day. I hope, in the end, my images live up the reality. Please enjoy. T

Mary + Rocky = Engaged!

Mary and Rocky met on St. Patrick’s Day. At the time he was living in (hmm trusting my memory on this one!), Chico, and she was in San Francisco. She had a kitty cat that liked to give him a distrustful eye and then knock his keys off of the table. Now they have two kitty cats and two doggies.

Can you tell I’m an animal lover?

I think Rocky must be too, because when Mary talks about animals he just laughs and shakes his head. We traveled to a park owned by Rocky’s Godfather for their engagement photos, and saw the funniest thing. The supervisor who lives on site owns a pet goat. That goat didn’t follow me or Mary, he only had eyes for Rocky.

Driving up to Chico for this session I half wondered if I was crazy, but mostly I didn’t think about it at all and instead enjoyed the drive and looking out the window at all the unending fields I just don’t get the chance to see living in San Francisco. I always ask a couple if they have a location that holds sentimental value for them, they answered yes and I’m glad I didn’t think twice.

Thank you so much Mary and Rocky for inviting me into a small piece of your world! Hope you love the slideshow. Can’t wait to share their amazing wedding images!

Cassie + Mark = Engaged

When I first e-met Cassie through skype I fell in love with her soft southern accent and easy going manner. She sent me a photo of her and her fiance and I thought, wow, I love Mark’s style! So imagine my disappointment when Mark vetoed the engagement session.

Bummer, I thought, in my not so southern accent and decidedly Californian slang.

Cassie is originally from Arkansas, Mark from the Bay Area, but right now? They live in Poland. So once they had passed I told myself to give up the dream, luckily Cassie is persistent and talked him into it! Which is when I danced around singing ‘yippee!’.

I was really glad I had the chance to hang out with this couple one on one. Mark has such a sense of humor, and Cassie has him constantly laughing. Hope you love love love the photos!

Keep your eye out for their beautiful wedding coming soon to my very own blog!

Valerie + Chantz = Engaged!

The weather here in San Francisco is… well… fickle. Which is why I am so amazed every time I look at these wonderful images. I have never experienced such a windy day in the city, our hair (Chantz excluded of course!) was blowing each way, and more than once I wondered how Valerie was surviving such a cold wind. But she did, we all did, and we have wonderful images to show for it!

I have to admit I fell in love with their puppy! How cute is he? Although, he did try to escape once. He had the happiest look on his face running away from Chantz. Why are dogs so happy running away from us? Luckily he was leashed and held captive during photo taking time.:-)

Please enjoy. Their wedding images are soon to come!

Karen + Albert = Married!

I have the best luck at my November weddings. Last November I shot a beautiful wedding in a vineyard that had the good graces to refuse to shed it’s leaves. This year at Karen and Albert’s wedding the sun was out so bright and shiny, and later it set so beautifully allowing me to take some really amazing images. I can’t even begin to explain all of the thoughtful details that went into this wedding. Karen and her mom (according to Albert), are all of the talent behind the amazing visual candy. From using nick knacks around their home for centerpieces, to personalized wooden milk crates, there seemed to be one surprise after the next. My favorite part though? When we arrived at the little wooden church Albert opened it with a key. Small I know, but as my friends always point out, I’m easily impressed. Please please please enjoy.
