Marvin + Vicki = Family Session!

A few years ago Vicki found me on Yelp and hired me to do her head shots. Let me tell you, her head shots are pretty fabulous. The great thing about her session is she has tons to choose from, and I see her cycle them on linked in. So when she called me to do a family session with her husband and two youngest daughters I was happy to oblige.

Vicki is such a nice person to be around, and so is her family. I enjoyed this session. Not just for the lovely images but because it was great to be outdoors in the sunshine and watch the girls playing together. Hope you enjoy the slideshow as well!

Phil + Diana = Matthew & Isabella (in waiting)

We originally made time for this session but then had to cancel due to rain. Both Diana and I started to get a bit nervous, not so much from her due date but more because, oh my goodness, she looks about ready to deliver! I asked her if she was sure she wasn’t further along, and she assured me she wasn’t. I find that there are different stages of pregnancy:

1. Yay you’re pregnant and you look exactly the same!
2. Yay you’re pregnant, or hmm, burrito for lunch?? ;p All my girlfriends hate this stage since they feel like they look as if they’ve gained weight, rather than being 4-5 months along. I always vote for them looking cute and pregnant, but it seems as if my vote doesn’t count?
3. Your belly popped out overnight and you look instantly pregnant. This is the stage most of my friends and clients seem happiest at.
and
4. You are ‘beautiful’ pregnant, because oh my goodness that baby is coming out any day and we can just imagine holding it. Okay, yes, I admit. This is the stage my friends complain about the most! They are tired. They have trouble sleeping. Husbands have now become pully systems that help you get up from sitting and lying positions. Translation? This is the part they want over the quickest! Next to morning sickness of course!

The day of the session came and Matt was every bit as rambunctious as you hear little boys are. He was running, he was playing, he was just having a great time. His aunty and uncle came to help out, and he popped in a few times for his beauty shots. =)

Yesterday I heard that Diana was 1 centimeter dilated! So now these family photos will soon be complete. Enjoy guys!

Bella’s Baptism!

I first met Bella when she was still in her mommy’s belly. Since then I came back to see her after she was born, and now for her first birthday/baptism. When I sat down next to her I couldn’t believe how much she’s grown, her big beautiful eyes just like her mommy, and her personality! Oh my goodness she is animated.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love animated babies? Because I do. I think they’re fantastic. When my sister was little she was a constant motor just humming along. I remember her in her walker (why oh why don’t they make those any longer? they were fun for decades!) peering at me around corners trying to run up behind me with a sneak attack. We all would pretend we didn’t see her and then she would run at us full speed ahead laughing hysterically.

At the church Bella spotted her family sitting nearby and was talking, waving, trying whatever she could to get their attention. She couldn’t believe that they weren’t coming right over to pick her up. Once the priest had baptized her you could see she was somewhat upset, why did he do that to her? She was wet! Later she decided she’d had enough and it was now her aunties duty to hold her hand and propel her around the party. In short, she was adorable.

Dear Bella,

I will see you again at Vivi’s wedding next year, please stay cute! I expect you to start recognizing me (okay at least a little bit!) soon.

This was her mommy’s necklace. Don’t you love things with history? This is Bella pointing out that she is now wet. Unacceptable!Did I mention Abril had hired a fairy for Bella’s party? There were also bubbles. And face painting. And balloon animals. The fairy didn’t create these cute little girls, but she did paint their faces.

Hope you enjoyed!

Leslie + Chris = Mac & Molly

Chris was flying out early for work the morning I arrived, and so he only makes a small cameo appearance. Luckily Leslie’s mom had flown in to visit and so she was able to not only help Leslie out, but also to participate. The last time I visited Leslie I feel like she had less toys in her home? Molly was all teeny and brand new and Mac was just starting to walk. This time when I showed up I was pretty sure I was in a toy store, and let me tell you, it was kind of awesome. Maybe it’s because I’m 16 years older than my sister, but there’s a large part of me that misses the pleasant chaos childhood brings. The sound of children shows on in the morning, tiny laundry hanging out on a corner chair, all of these things make me laugh. Chris asked me if Kevin and I also watch Elmo in the morning, my response? I wish. Elmo’s kind of cute.

I think this session is such a great mix of your traditional images and then fun active portraits. You know what happens when kids get their legs to work? They hate sitting still. Almost every image with Mac sitting you can tell he wants to be off and running. Enjoy!
