Sarah + Jesse = Couple Session!

You may remember Sarah and Jesse from their wedding back in October. Unfortunately they weren’t able to do their engagement session before the wedding, but they hoped to instead have a couple session later. I thought that was a great idea, so of course signed right on.

I know I do this. After every session I am all of a sudden positive that these are my favorite images ever. And this session is no exception. It has so many amazing things! Cool cement staircase, awesome Oakland architecture, nature, and the best image of a couple laying on the ground. Mostly I love that image because of how the light captures Sarah’s eyes and shows off her amazing bone structure.

Let me tell you. Sarah and Jesse are troopers. The wind was kicking up fierce that day and we had to change locations a few times to find shelter, but they were amazingly open to moving around as I tested different sites. Which was great! Heck, Jesse even pointed out where the entrance was to the amazing overpass we got to shoot in!

I hope you love these photos as much as I do!

Leslie + Chris = Mac

Mac is Leslie and Chris’s second baby. Their first is the adorable Stanley, who got tricked into sitting for a ball in front of my black velvet backdrop. Good dog Stanley!

Wait. I know this is supposed to be a post about babies, and how cute they absolutely are, but I can throw things across their whole backyard and Stanley catches it in his mouth. Sure, this apparently gets old when you have him EVERY day. But I don’t have him everyday. So for me it’s the coolest parlor trick in the world.

I have to say that Mac was such a good trooper through all of the photos. He fell asleep for us, lay in his crib mesmerized by the little animals turning in a circle, suffered through outfits changing, lights flashing at him, and held up all the way to the end. He gets a gold star for excellence. In the meantime I learned something new. I frequently tell mom’s not to worry, we have baby breaks built into our time for whenever it’s necessary. At one point Leslie handed Mac off to Chris and took a mommy break. Which consists of a small snack, a beverage, and general de-stressing. Wait, it sounds like Leslie gets a gold star too!

I’m so glad they chose me to take such precious photos of their newest family member. Enjoy both the pictures and a small slideshow.

PS

Is it just me or does Mac kind of look like the Gerber Baby in the first black and white picture. He’s sooo adorable!

Justin + Ruthie = Engagement Session!

So, I sort of went to High School with Ruthie. Or rather, she went there right after I graduated and knows some of the same guys that I do. How did we figure this out? Especially since I’m not exactly in the habit of running around asking, where did you go to high school? Do you know so and so? Yes, I know tons of people actually do that. However I’ve always had the opinion that the world is a great big big place, and the chance of you and I knowing the same people? Small. Of course I’m constantly proved wrong. So when I posted the pics I took of my good friend Jimmy’s wedding, voila, Ruthie knew him. You may remember that I love shooting in new places, and hate feeling as if I’m doing the same old thing. So when I planned a short get away to Lake Tahoe I just started itching. Who did I know who I could take photos of? Ruthie and her Fiance Justin didn’t seem that far of a jump. They were getting married, needed engagement photos, I am their photographer, and I feel like I sort of know her already. Still, when I sent the email I hoped that I didn’t come off as creepy.

Luckily I didn’t creep her out at all! Once I got into Lake Tahoe I started scouting for cool sites. Cool lake? Check. Cool creek covered in snow? Check. Cool white trees looking slightly creepy? Check! Snow. Check! Here are the engagement photos we took along with the slideshow. If you routinely read my blog but don’t watch the slideshows, I have to say that you are totally missing out. The slideshows are LOVELY. If it doesn’t play right away just click several times, it will get the hint I promise. On to the photos!

PS

Justin was so sweet to Ruthie the whole time! He made all of her snowballs and consistently walked ahead of her in the snow so she could follow his path. Wow Ruthie! Good job on finding a great guy!

I know Ruthie from TheKnot.com. She was upset about her last e-pics with a different photographer and so she signed with Terra, just like I did! And just like me, she is thrilled! Terra’s just great and it shows in Ruthie’s pictures. Beautiful and fun.

Kevin + Tonie = Angelina + ??

I’ve been friends with Tonie for 10 years, back when we were COUGH COUGH. So you can see that we’re all still quite young around here thank you very much.

Actually we really are, but I’m prepping for ten years from now so that I can be safely and easily deluded. I’m sure my friends and Drivers License will try to shoot me back down to reality, but thankfully reality is now a tv show. YAY for me!

In any case, I’ve been taking photos off and on for Tonie and adorable daughter for ages. This time it was a new request, she wanted to include the hubby, the baby, and the NEW baby. Of course the new baby was still hiding away. Welcome to my very first maternity sessions. Can you have one of your own? Of course.

Also please keep your eyes open as Tonie’s lil baby made her debut and I’m just processing the photos now. Uber adorable.
